The gap between a design idea and a built Power BI report is where rework lives.

Wireframe Studio bridges that gap with a four-stage workflow: wireframe your report on a native Power BI canvas, get AI suggestions from your data model, export a PBIR file that opens ready-to-develop in Desktop, and share the wireframe for stakeholder review before a single measure is written.

Every stage uses real Power BI concepts: 37 visual types covering nearly all native Desktop visuals, the same coordinate system, the PBIR format that preserves your wireframe exactly. What you design is what gets built.

CANVAS

Drag-and-drop report wireframing on the actual Power BI coordinate system.

The default canvas is 1280x720, but Pro and Power users can choose from all Power BI Desktop canvas sizes, including 16:9, 4:3, Letter, Tooltip, and custom dimensions. Visual containers snap to grid, align to each other, and report pixel-exact coordinates. Multi-page layouts let you design full report flows, not just single screens. Every position you set maps directly to the PBIR file coordinates.

  • 37 visual types covering nearly all native Power BI visuals: bar, column, line, area, combo, pie, donut, scatter, waterfall, funnel, matrix, table, card, KPI, gauge, map, filled map, shape map, slicer, text box, and more across 11 categories
  • Drag-and-drop with snap-to-grid precision on the Power BI coordinate system
  • Multi-page layouts with keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y for copy, paste, undo, and redo across pages
  • Smart alignment guides and zoom/pan navigation for detailed positioning work
EXPORT

One-click export to PBIR (the new Power BI standard) with every visual already positioned.

PBIR is the new Power BI report format: folder-based, Git-friendly, and the default for all new reports from March 2026. Wireframe Studio generates a valid PBIR ZIP file with every visual container at exactly the position and size you set on the canvas. Open it in Desktop and your wireframe is already built. All processing happens in your browser. Your design data never leaves your machine.

Purpose-built for Power BI means the export is not an approximation. It is the same coordinate system, the same format, the same visual type identifiers that Desktop uses. What you designed is exactly what gets built.

  • One-click export to PBIR ZIP file, ready to open in Power BI Desktop January 2025 or later
  • 100% client-side generation. No canvas data sent to any server. The ZIP is built entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API
  • Optional theme embedding from Theme Studio. Reports open in Desktop pre-styled with your brand theme alongside the wireframe
  • Schema-validated against Microsoft's official PBIR JSON schemas. The exported file conforms to the format Desktop expects
AI

Upload your TMDL schema and get an AI-suggested Power BI wireframe in seconds.

Starting from a blank canvas for every project is a time sink. AI Wireframing analyzes your TMDL semantic model (the tables, columns, and relationships that describe your data) and suggests the right Power BI visual types for the data you have, positioned on the canvas as a complete starting wireframe. Edit any element, move visuals, swap types, or delete suggestions entirely. The AI gives you a starting point, not a locked design.

  • Upload your TMDL file or describe your data model in natural language. Model Studio and Wireframe Studio share the same schema context
  • AI selects visual types based on column data types and relationships. Date columns suggest time-series visuals, numeric measures suggest summary cards and bar charts
  • Fully editable result. Every AI-suggested visual is a standard canvas element you can move, resize, rename, or delete
  • TMDL contains no actual data, only table names, column names, and relationships, so AI wireframing from schema is safe for regulated environments including healthcare, finance, and government BI teams
  • Works with any Power BI license. No Premium or Fabric capacity required for AI wireframing
COLLABORATE

Share the wireframe for stakeholder review before you write a single measure.

The most expensive design changes are the ones discovered after development starts. Review and Comments lets you share a view-only link to any wireframe and collect precise, positioned feedback directly on the wireframe. Stakeholders pin comments at exact canvas coordinates. No more “the chart in the top right” ambiguity. Lock the wireframe with sign-off before a single measure is written.

  • Share view-only links. No account required for reviewers, just a name to identify their comments
  • Owner markup annotations: draw arrows, shapes, freehand paths, and text callouts directly on the canvas to guide reviewer attention
  • Viewer comments pinned at canvas positions with real-time updates. Comments appear exactly where the reviewer placed them
  • Threaded replies and comment resolution workflow. Mark comments as resolved when addressed, keeping the review thread clean
