What counts as an AI Action?
An AI Action is any use of AI-powered features: generating a wireframe from your TMDL schema or generating a DAX measure from a natural language prompt. Each generation counts as one AI Action regardless of complexity.
Does Draft BI see my actual Power BI data?
No. Draft BI works with TMDL schema files, which describe the structure of your semantic model: table names, column names, data types, relationships, and DAX measure expressions. TMDL contains no actual data rows, no database connection strings, and no credentials. Your underlying business data never enters Draft BI or its AI providers at any point.
Is it safe to upload my TMDL schema to Draft BI?
Yes. TMDL is a structural description of your data model, not the data itself. It is the same format Power BI uses for version control in Git. When you upload a TMDL schema, AI providers process it transiently to generate your wireframe or DAX measure and do not store or use it to train their models. The schema contains no records, no credentials, and no information that could identify your customers or expose financial or medical data.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
When you sign up for Pro or Power, you get full access to all features in that tier for 14 days at no cost. Your card is collected at signup but not charged until the trial ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial from your account settings and you will never be charged.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes, you can cancel at any time from your account settings. Your paid features remain active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Free tier. All your projects and themes are preserved.
Is the PBIR export compatible with my version of Power BI Desktop?
PBIR export works with Power BI Desktop versions from January 2026 onward that have Preview Features enabled for PBIR format. From March 2026, PBIR becomes the default format for all new reports. The exported file uses the same folder structure that Desktop expects.
What happens to my projects if I downgrade from Pro to Free?
All your projects, themes, and saved measures are preserved. You retain full access to view and edit them. The Free tier limits apply going forward: 3 PBIR exports per month and 5 AI Actions per month. Pro-only features like markup tools become read-only.
Do I need Power BI Premium or Fabric to use Draft BI?
No. Draft BI works with any Power BI license: Free, Pro, Premium Per User, or Fabric. All AI features including wireframe generation, DAX generation, and model assessment are available regardless of your Power BI licensing. No Premium capacity or Fabric SKU is required.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Draft BI is a web application. You design in your browser and export PBIR files that open in Power BI Desktop. No plugins, no local installs, no desktop client required.
Why should I wireframe my Power BI report before building it?
Wireframing locks in design decisions and gets stakeholder sign-off before development starts. Draft BI lets you wireframe with real Power BI visual types on a pixel-accurate canvas, then export a PBIR file that opens in Desktop with every visual already positioned. This eliminates the layout rework that happens when design intent is communicated through screenshots or verbal descriptions.
